Artesanos del Pueblo – A Celebration of Folk Art was
held at Mission San José last October 31, November 1,
and 2. Pamela Bain,
Artesanos Chairman, and her committee planned and
executed a spectacular show and sale of local and
Central American art and folk art. And, for the first
time in years, the weather was not jinxed.

Music Under the Stars
The weather gods once again were smiling on the
Queen of the Missions as the USAA concert
approached. There was not a cloud in the sky and the
temperature was quite “temperate” - a perfect
forecast was projected on Monday for the whole week.
Bruce Gilkes, music director for USAA, moved
forward on Thursday with undying optimism. The stage
was built and the temporary lights were installed.

Gala 2008Make it Your Mission
Cynthia McMurray, 2008 Gala Chairman, was all smiles in anticipation of a glorious, festive
and successful Gala as she unloaded her vehicle with
supplies to decorate Mission San Juan.
By early afternoon, the mission looked almost ready
for the party of the year. The committee worked for
three labor-intensive days and their efforts were well
worth it for Mission San Juan had never looked more
colorful.
